Since September 2023, I’ve been manager for the Danish electronic duo Lyra Valenza – a duo I’ve had the pleasure of following and working with since they begun in 2017. Read more about the project below.
Lyra Valenza is the project of Jens Konrad Barrett and Hjalte Lehmann, who’ve been putting out music since 2017. Having explored a variety of different styles and aesthetics over the years, they have since established themselves as a unique act in the contemporary electronic scene due to their singular and catchy blend of genres such as jungle, trance and techno – distilled into their very own sound.
That Lyra Valenza’s sound is truly special is also evident from the recognition they’ve received from a diverse field of other acclaimed artists. Through the years, they’ve been supported by the likes of Caroline Polachek, Bill Kouligas, Courtesy and Rroxymore, who have played their music on different occasions.
Their releases and high-energy live performances have also resulted in them being selected for the prestigious SHAPE Platform in 2020 as well as gaining them an ongoing residency at LYL Radio with their own label, Petrola 80. In addition to their radio show at LYL, they’ve also made mixes for, among others, Resident Advisor, NTS Radio, Rinse FM and Inverted Audio.
2023 saw the release of their long-awaited debut album, Low Gear No Pressure, which was released on Petrola 80, after having put out music on compilations through internationally acclaimed labels such as Courtesy’s imprint Kulør, Opal Tapes and Posh Isolation. The album is a culmination of the many musical aesthetics on their previous releases and shows the group’s ability to create both energetic and addictive bangers as well as more laidback club tracks, always with a clear understanding of the synergy between the different compositions.
